Your Beliefs & your stories are either the keys to your success or keys to your struggles !!
What you believe consistently affects your efforts and therefore your Outcomes !!
If you believe you shouldn’t do something or cant do something we often dont even try so therefore provide a congruent outcome with our belief !!
However, if we believe we can and will do / achieve something we find a way to make it a reality and again make the outcome congruent with our belief !!
Beliefs are simply a set of assumptions based on perception, opinion, upbringing and social circle in most cases….. and most important can be changed to more supportive beliefs !!
Stories are the stories we tell daily to ourselves and to others about what we are, can do, our limits etc
Basically if we tell ourselves the story that we will lose friends if we look too good or lose too much weight we start to believe this and then sabotage any efforts to lose weight unconsciously so we become congruent with the story and the subsequent belief.
These stories and beliefs shape our behaviours and life in general and most people never question or examine the sotries and beliefs that shape everything they do
EXERCISE
- WRITE DOWN 1 AREA YOU CONSISTENTLY STRUGGLE WITH eg weight loss, money, relationships
- WRITE DOWN THE BELIEFS AND STORIES YOU TELL YOURSELF IN THAT AREA
- FOR EACH BELIEF / STORY ASK, IS THIS TRUE ? IF SO, HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS TRUE ?
- THEN EXAMINE THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT MIGHT NOT BE TRUE AND THIS HELPS YOU COLLAPSE THE BELIEF
- WHAT NEW BELIEF COULD YOU HAVE THAT MAY BE TRUE IN THAT AREA THAT MAY SUPPORT YOU ?
This simple 5 step exercise can be done on any area of your life where you may have some roadblocks
