With this week being #mentalhealthawarenessweek lets look at some things you may want to consider to help / improve your mental health
1. Avoid the comparison trap – best way of feeling crap every day is to compare yourself to others or where you feel you should be, what you should be driving.
2. Get moving – daily walking, exercise is vital for our mental health and is proven time and time so. Find something that you enjoy and do it regularly but make sure you move daily.
3. Good sleep – do everything in your power so have a wake up ritual and a bedtime ritual to have quality sleep. Good sleep enhances concentration and mood so do all you can to get the best sleep possible
4. Be grateful every morning – write down 3 -5 things you are grateful for in your life, kids, health, fitness, family, relationships, freedom
5. Record the wins every night – before going to bed each night write down at least 3 wins that day , great walk, laughing with friends, pb in a workout, great time with kids etc
6. Good nutrition – do not underestimate the power of foods in affecting mood. If you are deficient in omega 3 fatty acids as just one example it can have a serious affect brain chemistry. Drinking enough water and a nutritious diet so the brain can produce the correct amounts of neurotransmitters is essential.
7. Be mindful – meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga all can help relieve anxiety and stress and help us see things more clearly
8. Laugh – laughter has a magical power over our brain and laughing daily can seriously change our mood, watching comedy, being around funny friends and family. Basically have some good laughter every day
